When the Thompson family of six planned their first trip to Sri Lanka, the biggest worry was not the 12-hour flight from London Heathrow. It was what would happen when they landed at Bandaranaike International Airport at 4:15 AM with four exhausted children, eight suitcases, and a stroller.

Their driver Nimal had been tracking flight UL504 since it left London. When the SriLankan Airlines A330 touched down 20 minutes late, he was already positioned at the arrivals hall exit with a printed name board reading "Thompson Family - Welcome to Sri Lanka."
